OVERALL HISTORY
Late one saturday night, a drunken Holly Grady stumbled into a hospital in the middle of New York, screaming as pains coursed through her swollen stomache. Begging for help she was taken to into theatre, and a cesarean was performed on her pregnant stomache. When she finally awoke from the operation she was a mother. From her hospital bed she asked to see her daughter, but was told that there had been some complications with the birth, and that her baby, who she learnt was a girl, would have to stay in the intensive care unit for at least a week to undergo tests. Holly was discharged, but never left the hospital waiting room. Five days after she arrived at the hospital drunk, she received the news of what was wrong with her child. Her daughter, whom she'd named Noelle whilst she'd been waiting to meet her, had been born with a hole in her heart. Due to Holly's lack of compliance to rules, she had consumed alcohol whilst pregnant, and therefore affected her daughters health. Holly felt terrible, and from the moment she was allowed to take her daughter home she vowed to give her everything she needed. And she did, so much so that Noelle had no room to breath. Her mother was always there, asking if she needed anything, needed any help. It suffocated Noelle, and she found that by twelve attention was something she strongly disliked. She found herself spending more and more time at friends houses to avoid her mothers constant gaze.
At fourteen Noelle was forced to move from New York, where she adored her life, to California, as the coastal air was said to do her condition good. Her heart defect had never troubled her much, other than her not being able to do sport it never restricted her actions. Of course, when she fell in love with ballet, this became a problem. Her doctors told her that as long as she was careful, took her tablets daily, and made sure she took a rest should she start to feel ill, that she would be able to continue with her passion. She became well known for her elegant ways, and despite starting dancing later than all the others in her class, she was soon above all of them. Living in California was just beginning to grow on her when her mother met a man she loved. Noelle had heard it before, but this time it seemed she actually did. As Noelle had never known her real father, she welcomed any male influence in her life. David soon became a regular part of her life, and she too grew to like him as her mother did. David was a lawyer, and a good one at that, so it was no shock when he was offered a better paid job in New York. The shock was he wanted Holly and Noelle to move with him. Holly accepted without concern for Noelle's needs or wants, but Noelle didn't argue, she would be able to return to the true city life she loved.
Manhattan became her new home, and David paid for her to attend, and live at, Winston Preparatory school. She knew he was trying to rid of her, despite the fact that they got on well. She didn't mind, living in a dorm with friends she would make was preferable over living with her mother and the man who would soon become her step father. After the marriage, contact between Holly and Noelle became minimal. Noelle didn't mind, not really, she had her own life, a new life. Two weeks after arriving at Winston she joined the dance team, and was soon top of the class as she had been in California. Alot of the people at Winston disliked Noelle, for reasons she couldn't fathom. She never spoke to them, but they hated her. It made no sense in her mind. However, luckily for her, one girl chose to befriend her. She and Eleanor became best friends, and soon she found herself enjoying her life more than she ever had before. The next amazing thing to happen in her life was Kyle. He was the school heart-throb. Naturally, he was gorgeous, kind, funny and charming. And for some bizarre reason, he liked her. From the day he asked her out they have been inseperable, and Noelle wouldn't have it anyway.
Now, she's in her senior year, as a group of wonderful friends and a perfect boyfriend. She's still in contact with her mother, but tries hard not to become too attatched, as she hates the way her mother fusses over her. Her ballet is one of the most important things in her life, and she wishes to pursue a career in it as soon as she can.[/ul]
